A mere hours before news of Giroux's deal with Ottawa broke, LeBrun tweeted that "all signs pointed to " the Senators being the front-runner to land the 34-year-old. After spending his entire career with the Philadelphia Flyers coming into the 2021-2022 campaign, Giroux was traded to the Florida Panthers in March.
He finished last season with 21 goals and 44 assists for 65 points across 75 games between the Flyers and Panthers. Giroux added three scores and five helpers for his new team in their 10 postseason tilts.
The Senators' addition of Giroux gives them a skater with 85 games of playoff experience. Ottawa hasn't made the postseason since 2017.
